Great ProductReview by Cheryl
Rating In my first week of breastfeeding, I developed the common cracked, peeling, slightly bleeding nipples that come with new motherhood. Boy oh boy, did they sting, and feeding my daughter was agony. I pumped pink milk for three days. I tried lanolin, a gel film they gave me at the hospital, dry pads to stop leakage, and cabbage leaves. These gel pads were the best thing ever! I used them for three days until the cracked/bleeding phase passed, and then I continued to use them for another week (and I mean 24/7) to protect my sore nipples. The gel pads have a cloth backing that has enough friction to keep everything in place, in everything from a "regular" bra to a very loose and stretchy "sleep" bra. They worked, and they felt great.
I rinsed the pads of lint a couple of times, and they still provided soothing comfort. I occasionally used them with lanolin, too. Eventually they became discolored and I threw them away, but only after using them for many, many more days than recommended. These were a lifesaver getting me through the first two weeks of breastfeeding and I can't praise them enough. Make sure you have a pair on hand before you get home from the hospital--you'll be glad!
